Carmel Engagement Session | Brittney & John
Brittney and John's engagement session was one of my favorites of the year. I had such a wonderful time photographing both their engagement session and wedding last year. For their engagement session I spent an entire day with them and went home gaining two more friends. When they suggested driving to Carmel for their engagement shoot I immediately said, "Yes!". All my years growing up and living in the Bay Area and I had never been through Carmel. I encourage all my couples to pick engagement spots that mean something to them. Brittney and John have spent countless dates and long weekends exploring the area, so Carmel held a special spot in their hearts. They even went to Carmel after their wedding! They showed me around their favorite spots, and I felt really honored going on "date" with them that day.
They took me to Mission San Carlos, La Bicyclette where they often eat, a The Carmel Bakery for a yummy cannoli and the beach they love taking their dog. It was almost an 8-hour day, but the time flew by as I got to know them. I remember when we met at our first client meeting and we talked for hours about life. Being with them just felt like I was with old friends. It's really easy to spend time with Brittney and John who are both incredibly kind and thoughtful. I photographed their wedding a couple weeks after my mom passed away and in their ceremony they included my mom in a time of remembrance for those who could not be there. It just melted my heart how sweet they could be.
Their session warms my heart. It reminds me of my mom. The morning of this session my mom and I drove to their house singing and talking about life. We drank starbucks, and I filled up her tank of gas. In fact, when I first met John and Brittney, my mom and I were hanging out starbucks before. Then I think she and I got chicken nuggets. I love that Brittney and John remind me of my mom.
