Countdown to Christmas in Cali

Boy it's been a whirlwind couple of weeks.

Since I last posted way back in November I’ve been (thankfully) inundated with work and travel. I shot my second-to-last wedding in Montevallo, just an hour outside of Birmingham. Then Lance and I spent our second Thanksgiving together (and our first as a married couple) in Georgia with his family.  I convinced Lance to let me drive the sevenish hours there because he came down with a bad couple; I was so proud of myself for driving so far, having never really driven more than an hour.  We ate lots of food and spent a lot of time with family.

After a couple of days I flew over to New York to photograph the sweetest wedding and one of my favorite families.  It was quick trip, but I managed to go to my favorite bookshop, explore Brooklyn and eat my favorite foods. (Holla, Luke’s Crabshack!)

Since returning to the good ole Bham and reuniting with my favorite person, Lance, we embarked on a flurry of events and parties and celebrations while I squeezed in editing every chance I could. After some intense and non-stop editing sessions I shot my first Birmingham birth yesterday morning.  A precious baby girl was born to the sweetest, most loving couple.

After all the craziness of the past few weeks, I was so overwhelmed with happiness to photograph this birth.  It put all the craziness in perspective.  This sweet couple went through so much to have this little girl, and thankfully she was born beautiful and healthy with few complications.  You can’t ask for much more, I think.  You thank God for what he’s given you and pray for the future.

In about a week Lance and I head to California to spend time with friends and family.  I don’t know when the next time I’ll be able to visit California again, so I’m going to make the most of it.  I’m so thankful for all the gifts and opportunities God gave me this year.  He’s provide for us time and time again. Here’s to the last bits of 2015! Cheers!
