San Francisco Newborn Photography | Rylan
The moment I saw Rylan I couldn't believe how tiny he was. I've seen newborns before, probably even smaller, but to me he just seemed so tiny and snuggly. Rylan is the precious little baby of Rachel and Roland, who contacted me last week for a photo shoot. I made the trek to foggy (well-lit) Daily City, arriving promptly at 10am, not expecting the shoot to last more than 2 or 3 hours. I couldn't have been more wrong. Sun streamed into one of the rooms, and I knew it would be the perfect spot for pictures so Rachel and I set up a little studio space. I took a few test shots, but those few shots started a long day of baby saddies. The poor little guy didn't enjoy sleeping on his tummy or naked or by himself. He did, however, enjoy a good swaddle.
As the day progressed Rachel and Roland, patiently tended to their little camera-shy baby, calming him for more pictures. They worked their new mommy and daddy magic soothing and rocking him. Meanwhile by the time 3pm rolled around I was stuffed with half a yummy chipotle burrito and a pack of apple mentos (thanks to Rachel and Roland) and content to working on other projects on my computer until Rylan was ready. By then I was hoping Rylan would fall back to his normal self, but today would not be the day. Sleep disruptions by Auntie Meg who moved his little body around were enough to make him a little camera shy. Regardless, Rylan was a little trooper and endured some more photographs before it was time for me to head out.
(Somehow I managed to get the shots I wanted. Praise the Lord, for sure. The first picture was the test shot I forgot I had taken. Little Rylan was probably so content then before he realized we weren't going to put his clothes back on. The last two pictures were pure amazing timing; Rylan was crying in both pictures but still managed to look so sweet and happy in between yelps.)
